RULES

EXPECTED PLAYER CONDUCT

1. Communicate

If you have a conflict with another player, please communicate with them before bringing your problem to the mod. They might not be aware there is a problem, and by bringing the problem to them directly, they have a chance to try and fix the problem on their own. If it persists after this, then you may escalate problems to the mod team.

2. Respect each other.

Even if you disagree with someone else's actions or opinions, being an asshole about it will not help. When communicating with each other, take care to remember you all are here for the same reason: to rp and have fun. Bullying and harassment of fellow players will not be tolerated.

3. Respect the mod team.

Modding is a tough job at the best of times. Do not make it harder on the mods by abusing them. Bullying and harassment of the mods is no more acceptable than to do so to your fellow players.

4. Don't infomod, or godmode.

Remember the power cap, and don't exceed it. Don't bring OOC knowledge into the IC arena, unless it makes sense for your character to have.

POWER CAP

  1. Characters are more or less capped to "level 30" to use video game references. "Level 30" basically means you've leveled enough to have access to a lot of your powers, and you're definitely above average! But all your super god-mode combos are still off limits, your one hit-KOs and planet-rending summons are completely locked, and some of your more powerful abilities are at the bottom rank of their possible strength. You can cast your really strong fire spell, but maybe have the MP to just cast it just once, and it might be smarter to work with smaller fireballs than you're used to and learn to aim strategically.

  2. Similarly, HP and stamina are reduced too. Your tank character is a level 30 tank. Your speedy ninja cheater is a level 30 speedy ninja cheater. They can't take hit after hit or dodge hit after hit for hours. Damage and exhaustion should be happening quicker than in canon. Invulnerability is not allowed.

  3. Psychic powers, unless previously agreed upon by the player who is the target of the ability have a 50 percent chance of success. So, if you want to use an ability, flip a coin! If you fail, your character may have the skill just not work, or actually backfire. For instance, they attempt to read a mind, and instead broadcast their own thoughts, or pick up false information.

  4. The rules for healing powers are a bit more stringent: you may heal burn wounds, stop bleeding, ect, but resurrection powers and powers such as regrowing the lost limbs or undoing major maiming of others, or other major game damage are off limits. In addition, major healing should be more tiring than other abilities.

  5. According to a game runner's preference, this may change during a game held in the arena. An angel may limit powers completely, or power them up, as they like. However, if not stated, please assume the powercap to be consistent with what is listed above.
PLAY STYLE

All posts should be prefaced with:
Who:
When: Day x, (time)
Where:
What:

We'd like for posts to stay to a schedule of roughly 1 IC to 3 OOC days. Judge what time for it to be by the post before yours, and how long it's been on the current day. If it's the second OOC day, and it's been morning the entire time, move it along to afternoon! Meanwhile, if it's only the second OOC day, and there's been three posts already in the afternoon, you might want to choose to make a post happening late afternoon, to have it after the others, but before evening. But this is not strictly kept, and if things need to be backdated, forward dated, or happening simultaneously, feel free to alter the timestamp as makes sense according to events.

ACTIVITY GUIDELINES

Activity is 50 comments a month, due at the end of the month in a turn-in thread.

These 50 comments can be made up of as many threads as you like, or just one thread. For example, you can have one 50 comment thread, or two 25 comment threads, or a 14 comment thread + a 30 comment thread + a 6 comment thread, etc.

But if you frequently pass AC just scraping by, or your teammates have great difficulty threading with you, be aware you may be warned. With the team structure in place, if a teammate only has one 50-comment thread once a month, and vanishes for the rest of the time, it might make things hard on the rest of the team; so please keep this in mind.

APPLICATION GUIDELINES

  • Canon characters, OCs, and fandom OCs with no relationships to canon characters are all appable.
  • AU versions of canon characters and characters apped with previous game histories intact are not.
  • Doubles of already apped characters are not allowed.
  • In the case of characters like Syaoran and Syaoran from Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles being apped, and you'd like to app the one from Card Captor Sakura, as they are from different canons with different histories, this is acceptable.

Canon Characters

  • Characters being apped must have enough canon to be able to fill out a reasonable sized memory registry of at least 10 memories.

  • A character’s canon sources can be humor-based or light in tone, but they must be story and character driven. Something episodic, where there is little or no continuity, is not appable. An example of an unacceptable canon is Spongebob Squarepants. On the other hand, Homestuck or Disgaea would both fulfill story requirements, and are fine.

Original Characters

  • You need to have a solid handle on them and their backstories, and play them consistently. A character where you have a concept and a world, but haven’t definitively decided on backstory details or personality is still uncertain enough that it’s likely to change radically in play is not appable.

  • If playing from an original character from a fandom world, you may have an AU roughly based on the original world, or play a character that existed in the original world but did not interact with the canon characters. For example, you may play an OC from a world roughly based on Harry Potter, where characters use wands and Harry Potter spells, but went to a school that doesn't exist in the canon universe. You may also play a character that went to Hogwarts but didn't interact with the main cast. You may not play Harry Potter's long lost sister.

  • If applying for a character where you plan to use a PB from a source that already has a cast in Raqia, please contact the cast and make sure they're alright with face twinning, first.
