GENERAL INFORMATION

TELL ME ABOUT AMNESIA:

Upon waking up in Raqia, characters will have found they have lost all their memories: their names, their lives, all these key things about who they are.

However, they'll find they still remember their basic skills: how to read and speak are automatics (provided the character could do both in the first place). More complicated skills they will not know they know how to do, especially things that require technical knowledge, but the muscle memory will be there. So, while a character may not remember all the fancy stitching they used to, if they forgot how to sew, when given a needle they're pretty unlikely to stab themselves with it while attempting to sew. They should be able to figure out these skills again on their own without too much trouble. Or, if they receive a memory back pertaining to the usage of the skill, there should be no learning curve, and they will be able to do it just as they had been able to before.

But, for all they don't remember, there is one thing they do: their powers, and if non-human, their race.

TELL ME ABOUT POWERS:

Characters in Raqia all have powers. Of course they do, otherwise they wouldn't need to be inside the dome, away from the magic corruption plague outside. Clearly.

So, when apping a character, regardless of if your character had any powers in canon, you may pick between one and three powers to give them. If you character has more than three powers in canon, please limit them back down to three. These can be any you want, but you should probably choose something that either makes sense for the character, or for the race you have chosen for them to be.

However, keep in mind the mechanic through which a power works is not a power in and of itself. If you put down “magic” or “chakra manipulation”, that tells me how their power works, but not what it is! Since it would have a whole host of applications, that would be too general. Meanwhile, something like “wingardium leviosa” or “sexy no jutsu” would probably be too specific a power. Try to choose something in the middle, like “flight” or “transformation”.

Also, this game does have a powercap to be aware of, so please make sure to read that section of the rules, since it will apply to everyone. In specific, healing, invulnerability, and mind-reading are especially limited.

TELL ME ABOUT RACES:

Because not everyone locked away in Raqia was human, when apping you have the option to pick a fantasy species, and have the character be that. Fantasy species includes any species that is naturally magic, a green alien from outer space has no reason to be locked away in Raqia.

So, with this change to magical race, any powers you would like to grant as part and parcel of this must be included in the three powers you've chosen for your character to take, but you are free to make changes that aren't advantages. For instance, if I were to decide to app Harry Potter as a werewolf, changes into a wolf would have to be included as one of the three powers. If I decided having copious body hair was part of this, however, I would not need to count that as a power. If you are unsure about where exactly a change you would like to make lies, please contact the mods.

This is entirely optional, and if you don't want to, please feel free to skip this portion of the application.

For those who do choose to change your character's species, Angels are off-limits, except in the case of characters who are already angelic in canon. Any other races, including races from other canons, are acceptable as long as they are within the power cap. So yes, if you so desire it, you may app Naruto as a Twilight vampire.

TELL ME ABOUT GAMES:
Games is the general, all-encompassing word for events that are held with memories at stake. Characters will hear a trumpet, heralding the call, obnoxious and difficult to ignore. If they follow it, or find themselves unable to stop themselves from following it, they'll arrive at the central arena. An "angel" will have called them there, and will preside over the event that follows. Some of these may be genuinely game-like, like a simple game of Cry Wolf. Some of them may be more like elaborate takes on the prisoner's dilemma, or like parties. They'll run the gamut! At the end, the Angel will judge what has just been shown, and award memories to those found worthy.
TELL ME ABOUT ANGELS:
While they call themselves angels, if they are actually those is up for debate. The forms they take aren't necessarily what on aren't necessarily what one would expect from an angel, though they do all consistently have wings. For another thing, characters that are sensitive to it will find they don't ping holy. Neither do they ping demonic, though. It's impossible to get a read on them, and trying to sense their nature is like trying to sense an empty space. But, for all that they don't reveal it, they have plenty of power, more than enough to grant the promised miracles.
TELL ME ABOUT MIRACLES:
A miracle is the promised reward, should characters satisfy the judgement of the angels, and earn back enough memories in their struggles here. The miracle may be anything usually deemed impossible, provided it does not affect Raqia. They are gifted with a single miracle, but with creative enough phrasing, this should be able to encompass a large amount.
TELL ME ABOUT DAILY LIFE:

In the morning, rations are delivered to team dorms: a simple meal of bread and canned fish, with an apple per teammate. It's enough for breakfast for everyone on the team, with a little left over, but not really enough to live on alone. From there, there's no stipulations on what they'd like to do with their time, though it may be wise to spend some time each day hunting or taking care of crops, to supplement their diets.

The call for games may come at any time, and is not consistent.

TELL ME ABOUT TEAMS:

A team is like a character's family in Raqia. They live in shared housing, and win back their memories together. Members of a team will all have the same tattoo, and their uniforms will be the same colour, as insignia of which they belong to.

Team tattoos & colors are as follows:

All team uniforms are currently the same, except for color and symbol displayed. They consist of:

TELL ME ABOUT DEATH, MAIMING, AND HEALING:

Games can get pretty dangerous. Some may have death as a risk, while others demand killing. Death during a game lasts the duration of the game. At the end of the game, characters are typically revived, though to what state of health varies with the Angel in charge. Depending on the method of death and state of the body before revival, this process may run from "disgusting and painful" to much, much worse.

Unless Angels are of the inclination to do otherwise, all wounds sustained inside and outside of Games will be left for the inhabitants to deal with on their own. Characters can scar and any irreparable damage will be permanent. (Though, you might get lucky about that missing hand in an Arena revival, though it won't be fun). On the bright side, you heal faster in Raqia. That broken bone won't be better by tomorrow, but after an IC week or so your character should have healed up.

For a death that occurs outside a game, the resurrection is not automatic. The corpse will need to brought to the central arena, and they will need to plead their case to an angel to get the dead brought back. Angels typically heal the dead to the state they were before their death, minus fatal wounds, but there may be exceptions. However, consistently, those brought back outside of the dead suffer a small "penance", a change or loss of the players OOC choice, but not the character's IC one. These usually last an IC week, before fading.

TELL ME ABOUT THE PLOT:
Raqia will be a plot-heavy game! There will be lots of events, ranging from the games to occasional events outside of them. These events may be set up to bring changes into their daily lives, challenge dynamics between teams, or to slowly drop hints and reveal information about this world and what's happened to it. As such, people apping here should be prepared for things to get pretty dark at times, and be willing to roll with not having control of every situation, though you will have power over how you react to the situations you're presented with. Please make certain to consider this before apping, and decide if this is the kind of game you want to play in.
TELL ME ABOUT AMNESIA:

Characters dropped...? What happened to them?? Who knows. Not you. Not yet. Wait.

Good ends are not currently available.

sorry if this is the wrong place for this! just wondering if there is a limit on the races we can choose for our characters beyond fantasy/magical only; can we play non-human or non-humanoid races? centaurs, minotaurs, orcs, goblins, dragonfolk, gnolls, etc?

I didn't see this on any of the pages that are up right now, so!

What day do you plan to start the game? Also, how long will apps be open for?

Wait, don't you mean the 15th of August? (I hope you don't mind the threadjack.)

Hello my fellow humans. It's me again. I have a few questions.

  • Is it alright to send an application before the 15th or do I have to wait?

  • The character I'm going to app is already amnesic. Can I forgo the amnesiac personality section since the first personality section would cover it?

  • Are there any differences between the five teams besides the different colors?
